Stingray Media has a position for Radio Operations Manager. This combined position requires a highly skilled and seasoned individual with direct oversight of multiple radio station’s programming and the creation of commercials and imaging. Responsibilities include all aspects of programming including; music scheduling, coaching on-air staff, station strategy, development of on-air/online promotions and generating associated revenue, oversight and content creation for digital extensions (including streams and websites), strong copywriting skills, seasoned on air delivery, strong technical background, and have a strong customer service approach towards listeners, staff, & sales. This position requires excellent skills in multitasking, organization, attention to detail, and time management related to Operations. The individual must be able to assess and solve problems, implement new systems and procedures as needed, and cooperate with others. This position will require the individual to be on call after regular business hours and on weekends to troubleshoot and/or address problems and continuously monitor the on-air broadcast, transmitters, and internet streams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with GM to develop the vision/strategy for programming, marketing and brands, digital, and operations.
• Work closely with Engineers to ensure smooth operation of the cluster.
• Implementing vision/strategy with direct reports to create consistent, compelling, and engaging talent and content, as well as successful and profitable marketing campaigns.
• Work with Program Director’s to implement excellent on-air sound, imaging and promos.
• Work with Digital Media Specialist to maximize on-air and digital assets including websites, social media presence, emerging technologies, as well as to ensure the audio streaming processes including web and app-based systems perform at 100%.
• Work with Sales Managers for on-air and promotional execution of sales promotions.
• Work with independent contractors and brokered programming clients on production of their programs.
• Work closely with Human Resources to develop and implement training for improvement of skill gaps in teams.
• Create operational strategies with cluster programmers to maximize station revenue.
• Ensure operation of the stations in accordance with DMS Broadcasting & OfReg regulations and policies
• Create, implement, and manage the overall sound of radio stations.
• Design the imaging, music, brand, and standards for station through all distribution channels
• Operate (as needed) control board, remote broadcasting and other related production equipment as well as music scheduling software
• Perform On Air presenting across multiple formats, and produce high quality mixes live
• Maintain all technical aspects of studio and transmission equipment
• Write, create, record, and produce high level imaging for multiple formats
• Write, create, record, and produce high level commercials for multiple formats and advertisers
• Be responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, and scheduling of programming personnel
Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years of successful radio programming experience, preferably top 10 market
• Minimum 10 years On Air Experience, preferably morning drive
• Experience in programming multiple formats
• Be a highly skilled DJ mixer
• Strong social and digital skills
• Proficient with research, music scheduling, clock building, and music categories using Selector
• Proficient with Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, Nex Gen, Zetta, and Comrex Systems
• Knowledgeable and able to perform IT work
• Ability to multi-task, possess discipline, and be extremely efficient
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with air staff, departments and clients
• Creative and strategic problem solver
• Deep knowledge of music, multiple formats, pop culture, and current events and how they relate to each station’s target demo
• Proven experience in managing social media branding, digital marketing, and video production. Proficient in digital automation systems, digital audio editing and production. Proficient in computer skills.
