Summary: As the On-Air Talent you must easily connect with people on-air, in person and on social media. Should possess a strong work ethic, be a team player, be able to work within format parameters to maximize ratings and revenue success, and be able to relate to the lifestyle. You should be a great story teller, understand the concept of forward momentum in a PPM world, be active and forward thinking with social media and video, and have the ability to effectively tease and deliver on compelling content with great pacing and timing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creating and delivering weekly radio shows on the topic of mental health, self-care and general wellness in the community.
• Work closely with the Operations manager in the creation, editing and production process.
• Responsible for training and guiding junior broadcasters.
• Monitor the music and commercial logs for the airshift.
• Ensure that promotions and contests are executed properly.
• Operate the control board and perform production work.
• Make personal appearances at station events and remote broadcasts.
• Other duties as required by management.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• A First-Class Honours Degree (or equivalent) in BA English Literature, English Language or Creative Writing (although an Upper-Second Class Honours Degree (or equivalent) will be considered).

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in speech writing and the delivery of speeches.
• Must be an excellent and creative communicator.
• Must be collaborative and work closely with station management and peers, both as part of a collective on-air show and with other dayparts, on content strategy.
• Must be passionate about mental health and raising awareness of the importance of mental health care.
• Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a fast-paced organization.
• Must have solid skills in audio production and have a strong working knowledge of using production and on-air studio equipment and software applications.
• Adhere to high standards of service and professionalism when engaged with clients and staff.
• Must be able to work under pressure, and work with people from different backgrounds.
