A Tour Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting visitors and residents throughout the Cayman Islands while providing friendly, professional customer service and supporting an enjoyable tour experience.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate tour buses and passenger vehicles on scheduled sightseeing and excursion tours.
Pick up and drop off passengers at hotels, cruise terminals, airports, attractions, restaurants, and other designated locations.
Conduct vehicle safety checks before and after each trip and report mechanical or safety concerns promptly.
Transport passengers safely while following Cayman Islands traffic laws and public passenger transportation regulations.
Maintain a clean, comfortable, and presentable vehicle at all times.
Welcome passengers in a friendly and professional manner.
Provide basic information about the Cayman Islands, including local history, culture, attractions, landmarks, beaches, and points of interest.
Follow assigned tour routes, schedules, and itineraries while maintaining good time management.
Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including elderly passengers, children, and persons requiring additional assistance.
Safely handle passenger luggage, equipment, and personal belongings when required.
Communicate clearly with tour operators, dispatchers, hotels, cruise representatives, and other tourism partners.
Monitor passenger numbers and ensure all guests are accounted for before departing each location.
Respond calmly and professionally to passenger questions, concerns, delays, or emergencies.
Follow established emergency, accident, first-aid, and evacuation procedures.
Report accidents, incidents, passenger complaints, vehicle defects, and other management concerns.
Maintain appropriate records such as trip sheets, mileage, fuel usage, passenger counts, and vehicle inspection reports.
Refuel and perform basic checks on the vehicle as required.
Maintain professional conduct and represent the company and the Cayman Islands tourism industry positively. Cayman regulations specifically require permitted bus and taxi drivers to avoid conduct that causes nuisance or brings the Islands or tourism operation into disrepute.
Comply with company policies, customer-service standards, and all applicable licensing and permit requirements.
Provide a welcoming experience that reflects the Cayman Islands' reputation as a tourism destination. Official tourism guidance highlights guided tours as an important way visitors experience Cayman's natural and cultural attractions.
Qualifications & Skills
Valid Cayman Islands driver's licence appropriate for the vehicle being operated.
Required public passenger/tour driver permit or eligibility to obtain one.
Clean and safe driving record.
Previous experience driving buses, coaches, taxis, or other passenger vehicles is preferred.
Good knowledge of Grand Cayman roads, attractions, hotels, cruise terminals, and tourist areas.
Strong knowledge of Cayman Islands history, culture, geography, and tourism attractions is an advantage.
Excellent customer-service and communication skills.
Ability to communicate professionally with international visitors.
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.Reliable, punctual, courteous, and safety-conscious.
The successful applicant will need to apply to drive with the Public Transport Board. Candidates should be available Monday through Saturday or as needed. Additionally, individuals must complete an application on behalf of the company for the Public Transport Board. More information regarding the application process will be provided during the company interview.
Furthermore, candidates must be physically fit enough to lift to 50 lbs (e.g., guest luggage).
Applicants must present the following documents: a valid CI Group 3-4 license, current police and traffic clearances, and a fitness-to-drive medical certificate.
