Cayman Academy invites applications from suitably qualified and committed educators for the position of Mathematics and Geography Teacher (CSEC/CAPE)
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Planning and delivering engaging lessons in Mathematics and Geography aligned with CSEC and CAPE Caribbean curriculum standards.
• Preparing students for external examinations, including CSEC Mathematics, CSEC Additional Mathematics, CSEC Geography, and CAPE Mathematics and/or Geography, where applicable.
• Teaching key mathematical concepts including number theory, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, functions, statistics, probability, measurement, and problem-solving.
• Teaching key geographical concepts including physical geography, human geography, population, settlements, resources, environmental management, economic activities, development, and geographical processes.
• Developing students' mathematical reasoning, analytical thinking, problem-solving, spatial awareness, research, and decision-making skills.
• Using real-world applications, maps, data, graphs, fieldwork, case studies, technology, and current issues to make Mathematics and Geography relevant and engaging.
• Designing assessments, projects, investigations, practical activities, and field-based learning experiences that encourage inquiry, creativity, collaboration, and independent thinking.
• Preparing students effectively for CXC examinations through targeted instruction, examination practice, data analysis, and intervention strategies.
• Monitoring student progress and providing timely, meaningful feedback to support academic growth and achievement.
• Identifying students' learning needs and implementing appropriate differentiation, intervention, and enrichment strategies.
• Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, assessment data, grades, progress, and academic reports.
• Integrating Christian values, biblical principles, environmental stewardship, responsible citizenship, and ethical decision-making into Mathematics and Geography instruction.
• Participating actively in school worships, extracurricular activities, professional development, curriculum development, field trips, and other school initiatives.
• Collaborating effectively with colleagues, parents, and school administration to support student achievement, character development, and well-being.
• Demonstrating professionalism, integrity, flexibility, and a strong commitment to the mission, philosophy, and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Geography, Geography Education, or a closely related field.
• A recognized teaching qualification and eligibility for teacher registration/licensing.
• Experience teaching CSEC Mathematics and Geography is required.
• Experience teaching Additional Mathematics and/or CAPE Mathematics or Geography is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of Caribbean curriculum standards and CXC examination requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to use technology, data, practical activities, and real-world applications to enhance Mathematics and Geography instruction.
• Excellent classroom management, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to integrating faith and learning within a Seventh-day Adventist educational environment.
Salary Range:
$40,000 - $60,000 Annually – Based on qualifications and experience.
All applicants must have at least 2 years’ experience in the subject area. The preferred candidates must be active participants in their respective churches and are in good and regular standings.
