STORE CLERK - GROCERY (NIGHT SHIFT).

Purpose of Role: To maintain ordering, pricing, stocking, and rotation of merchandise in the Grocery Department.

Reports to: Grocery Manager

Essential Key Responsibilities and Objectives:

• Assist in unloading the merchandise;
• Transport stock for storage to stock areas;
• Open cartons and price items (if required) accurately;
• Keep perishable merchandise rotated and pull out of code product as needed;
• Move cardboard boxes to dumpster often;
• Keep store shelves fully stocked and clean according to tag allocations;
• Assist in building store displays;
• Control level of damaged goods;
• Properly present assigned section prior to leaving at the end of scheduled shift;
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area fully instigating the ‘clean as you go’ policy;
• Observe all safety laws concerning lifting and moving products;
• Know product and product location;
• Greet all customers and be observant;
• Maintain good customer relations with prompt and courteous service;
• Keep knowledge updated regarding daily specials and general sale items;
• Be aware of any in store promotions or special events such as raffle prizes etc;
• Assist with store inventory planning and preparation;
• Assist Grocery Manager weekly with preparing Specialty International Grocery orders from overseas vendors;
1. Requires monitoring warehouse and shelf stock on hand; review weekly movements with Grocery Manager and place orders.
• Assist Grocery Manager weekly with preparing Local Grocery orders;

• Observe policies and procedures established for the Grocery Department;
• Abide by all Company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.

Supplemental Job Functions

• Ensure that you are fully aware of your schedule and report any required changes in advance of final schedule distribution;
• Maintenance of price and security protection program;
• Housekeeping of sales and back room areas;
• Monitor inventory of supplies and notify Grocery Manager when orders are required;
• Assist with Front-End service when required.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Ability to read and write to properly tag merchandise, maintain proper inventory level, and ensure rotation of product;
• Must have strong communication skills to ensure excellent customer service;
• Ability to unload, transport and place merchandise in specific areas;
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions;
• Ability to order through special store devices using vendor apps;
• Ability to use computer for orders, worksheets and emails;
• Must be able to lift to seventy (70) pounds up to forty (40) percent of the time;
