Reporting to the Chief Systems Programmer, the Senior Business Analyst is responsible for business analysis, user training and support; the analysis, design, development and implementation of bespoke applications, as well as the modification, enhancement and support of existing applications and commercial packages. Also essential to this position is proven experience and strong knowledge of SQL, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence or BI Certification including the ability to create and manipulate Data Cubes and advanced Excel Pivot Tables with familiarity of standard Statistical terms and functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will:
• Analyzes, designs, develops, implements and maintains new and existing software systems;
• Writes and tests effective program codes subject to a peer review process and utilizes the development tools approved by CIMA;
• Researches thoroughly and makes appropriate, cost-effective recommendations to management regarding the acquisition or development of future systems;
• Produces and maintains software to the divisional standards, user, and system and programmer level documentations;
• Analyzes, designs, develops, implements and maintains new and existing data cubes;
• Analyses, designs, develops, implements and maintains new and existing data warehouse objects;
• Works with other divisions to produce business intelligence reports to support existing and new reporting requirements;
• Makes suggestions on data capture and format to support business intelligence needs;
• Conducts software and system analysis and prepares development life cycles for various projects;
• Prepares timely and appropriate Project Documentation detailing tasks and milestones to ensure compliance to divisional standards;
• Provides on-going technical and end-user support for both custom-built and purchased software systems;
• Drafts useful training or procedural manuals;
• Participates in effective technical training sessions to end-users to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job are as follows:
• A professional degree in Information Systems;
• Seven (7) years of experience working as a Systems Business Analyst within a corporate environment, or two (2) years working as a Senior Business Analyst;
• Knowledge of Programming and Database Design concepts;
• Knowledge of Software Development and Records Management;
• Training or knowledge in the following disciplines:
• Enterprise Content Management Systems, Document Management, and Archiving;
• Microsoft SharePoint;
• SQL Server- current versions;
• Business Analysis methodologies and structures;
• Microsoft Office tools;
• Object-Oriented programming concepts;
• Microsoft Project;
• Knowledge of analytical and design methodologies;
• Proven experience in Data Warehousing;
• Proven experience or certification in Business Intelligence (BI);
• Ability to create and manipulate Data Cubes;
• OLAP / SQL Server Analysis Services and Data Mining;
• Advanced Excel Pivot Table experience;
• Familiarity with standard Statistical terms and functions.
