Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Summary
The functions of this role will include but not be limited to the following duties and responsibilities:
• Ensure stock is to be unpacked and rotated with a ‘first in, first out’ rule. If stock is stored in a container, the container is to be washed and refilled (new product is not to be dumped on top of old). Boxes are to be broken down and discarded immediately. No stock is to be kept and stored in cardboard containers.
• Keep working area clean and tidy throughout the workday, maintaining health and safety standards and ensure work area is thoroughly cleaned at the end of each workday.
• Ensure all kitchen hygiene and cleanliness standards are met and maintained on a daily basis
• Follow all instructions to ensure an allergen is dealt with correctly
• Responsible for ensuring all dishes, utensils and cutlery are washed and a clean supply is always available
• Responsible for cleaning all kitchen equipment after service has finished
• Receive deliveries from suppliers including counting items, checking quality, moving heavy boxes, and storage, highlighting any concerns/issues
• Efficient organization and maintenance of storage areas at all times
• Assist chefs (as required) with prep of ingredients, storage and labelling, and maintenance
• Prepare and stock juices as per recipes provided.

• Taking inventory of kitchen related supplies and alerting leadership of low stock/potential issues
• Feature in social media/marketing as required
• Work seamlessly with all IN employees including kitchen team, café team and management.
• Follow all company policies and procedures
• Additional duties may be assigned as required by business operation
The incumbent must have the following:
• Minimum 2+ yrs experience working within a commercial restaurant/café environment
• Flexibility to work across a multitude of shift times including morning, evenings, weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and all bank holidays
• Polite, welcoming, friendly, and courteous manner
• Able to handle all interactions with colleagues and customers in a professional manner.
• Able to function well in a fast paced, busy environment, with good communication skills evident at all times
• Flexible and capable of working in a variety of tasks when required (cleaning, chopping vegetables, receiving deliveries, cleaning, washing linens) and multitasking
• Knowledge of vegan/vegetarian/health food/allergens is considered an asset
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
• Physical ability to work on feet for minimum of 8 hours and perform variety of physical tasks including: move tables/chairs, take out garbage, assist with shipment boxes, etc.
Compensation package on offer for the role includes an hourly salary of CI$8.00 – CI$9.50. Additional benefits include company discount, vacation, health insurance, pension and all statutory benefits required under the Cayman Islands Labour Act.
