Contribute to the overall success of the Finance Department by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are compliant with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

How will you make an impact?
• Monitor internal and external financial reporting for reasonability / accuracy.
• Assist with preparation of Monthly Reporting Package within timelines which includes detailed reviews and analytic commentaries.
• Monitor and analyze financial results to identify significant variances or identify and resolve financial risk.
• Preparation of macroeconomic trend reports / any specialized and ad hoc reporting as required.
• Execute on planning/ forecasting methodologies, providing professional support to the Management teams in preparing / analyzing targets.
• Assist management with completion of the annual profit planning exercise and monthly forecasting exercises.
• Provide planning/forecasting support to the business ensuring key variances are highlighted and action plans developed.
• Monitor budgets to ensure effective controls are in place over profitability management.
• Provide analysis and insightful reporting on the trending of expenses to facilitate the proactive management of expenses.
• Responsible for the management of intercompany charge-outs – reporting monthly against plan and investigating variances as required.
• Assisting with ad hoc analyses, queries, and insightful reporting to inform decision making.
• Assist with the provision of monthly/quarterly information where applicable to Scotiabank Head Office and respond to queries.

What will you bring?
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/business/economics or a finance related discipline or a recognized accounting qualification (i.e. ACCA, CPA, CGA etc.).
• Analytical skills and desire to learn and adapt to changing requirements.
• Good accounting/financial/analytical skills/judgment gained from formal training in banking or finance, and/or on-the-job experience in a financial institution.
• Advanced computer literacy with very good proficiency in Microsoft Office suites.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong analytical, written and verbal presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, professional judgment and tact.
