What is the opportunity?
The Director Private Banking role is a pivotal leadership opportunity to shape the trajectory of RBC’s Ultra High Net Worth business across the Caribbean region. In this role, you will serve as the trusted strategic advisor and relationship steward for a select portfolio of UHNW individuals and families, orchestrating exceptional experiences that deepen client loyalty while navigating the sophisticated financial, regulatory, and reputational complexities inherent to this segment. Beyond portfolio stewardship and profitability optimization, you will drive new client acquisition initiatives and elevate advisory capabilities across the region by mentoring Private Bankers and cultivating best practices in UHNW wealth management. Leading a dynamic Client Relationship Team, you will position RBC as the premier private banking partner by delivering the full breadth of our capabilities – tailored to each client’s unique circumstances and aspirations – while upholding the highest standards of fiduciary responsibility and ethical conduct. What will you do?
• Deliver exceptional client experience to steer and grow UHNW client relationships within your portfolio of clients providing strategic relationship management and proactive advice to high-net-worth households following all five principles of the Black Card Experience
• Be an advocate for the client and lead the One RBC Orchestration with RBC partners to bring the full gamut of technical advice from partners within Caribbean Banking and globally internally across RBC businesses and externally with key COIs to win the full client relationship, manage referrals from end-to-end, align businesses to Home of Best Fit, and ensure credit opportunities are proactively identified and captured by the Senior Manager Credit Structures to align advice with overall client strategy
• Acquire new relationships by building a strong network in your local market while growing and deepening existing client relationships through discovery and advice, introducing clients to the right solutions, partners and capabilities at the right time, to help meet client needs both within Private Banking and across RBC
• Ensure portfolio quality and compliance in close collaboration with the Senior Manager Credit Structures
• Lead the client relationship team introducing the team members as key partners, respecting and reinforcing role clarity, to deliver exceptional day-to-day banking services, and as the credit expert for credit advice and solutions to meet the needs of the client household
• You are a role model, coach and contributing to a culture of winning as One RBC by demonstrating commitment to support leadership and assisting colleagues by sharing expertise within Caribbean Private Banking and to help develop our Private Bankers, strengthen their capabilities, and elevate the overall level of Private Banking proficiency
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
• MBA, CFA or equivalent relevant postgraduate or professional designation
• Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in a sales environment inclusive of at least 5 years at a senior sales leadership level providing advice and solutions to VHNW/UHNW clients
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Thorough understanding of high-net-worth financial sales and client relationship management
• Strong negotiation skills
• Strong leadership skills and a champion for change
• Growth mindset, continuous learner with a deep curiosity about enhancing the client experience, emotionally intelligent, decisive and excellent judgment
• Strong observational coaching, people development and mentoring skills
Nice-to- Have:
• Experience in Commercial Financial Sevices
• Professional designations (e.g. FEA, MBA, LL.B, CFA, CPA)
• Successful completion of Wealth Management Essential or Certification in Wealth Management (CIWM) designation under Moody’s/Canadian Securities Institute
