Position: Deckhand / Relief Captain

Location: Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Worksites: Sealand Adventure Tours Ltd. & Cayman Islands Boat Rental Ltd. (CIBR)

Job Description: Sealand Adventure Tours Ltd. and Cayman Islands Boat Rental Ltd. (CIBR) are seeking a reliable and safety focused Deckhand/Relief Captain to support daily marine operations, guest excursions, and vessel handling. The successful candidate will assist with deck duties, guest interaction, vessel upkeep, and operate vessels as Relief Captain when scheduled.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Operate and assist with 30–40 ft Powercat vessels for Stingray City, Starfish Point, Barrier Reef snorkel, and Bioluminescent Bay tours.
• Conduct full boat, safety, snorkel, and site briefings for guests.
• Assist with docking, anchoring, mooring, and general deck operations.
• Perform daily vessel cleaning, restocking, and equipment checks.
• Support captain with navigation, passenger safety, and emergency procedures.
• Conduct routine mechanical checks and report maintenance issues.
• Assist with compressor logs, tank filling, gear inspection, and basic repairs.
• Guide snorkel or dive activities when required.
• Assist with stingray interaction protocols and marine wildlife handling.
• Operate vessels as Relief Captain when scheduled.
• Transport guests to and from resorts or cruise ship ports when needed.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Minimum 3 years marine or boating experience (Cayman Islands experience preferred).
• Experience operating Powercat or similar vessels.
• Strong swimming ability and safety awareness.
• Ability to conduct safety briefings and guide snorkel excursions.
• Knowledge of basic marine maintenance, tank filling, and gear servicing.
• STCW 79/2010 or equivalent maritime safety certification (preferred).
• RYA Powerboat Level 2, VHF, or equivalent (preferred).
• PADI/NAUI dive certifications or watersports instructor experience (advantage).
• Ability to work outdoors in marine conditions.
• Customer service oriented with strong communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits
•Statutory benefits as per Cayman Islands Labour Law.

Work Schedule:
Fulltime; variable hours include weekends and public holidays.
