Summary

The functions of this role will include but not be limited to the following duties and responsibilities:
• Produce high-quality baked goods consistent and accurate with recipes and standards provided.
• Maintain baking timelines by delivering accurate and efficient production throughout the day.
• Know and understand all ingredients used in baked items and specials. Ensure all ingredients are fresh and stored correctly.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to create and improve baked items and seasonal specials.
• Assist team in growing bakery programme and identifying new avenues of development.
• Prepare ingredients and doughs to ensure an adequate supply at all times. Label all prepped items appropriately and ensure freshness. Complete all required prep before the end of each workday.
• Take primary responsibility for the production and development of breads, pastries, desserts, and other baked goods.
• Maintain cost efficiencies by regulating inventory levels and notifying management of low stock.
• Take inventory of baking-related supplies and alert leadership of shortages or potential issues.
• Unpack and rotate stock following a strict “first in, first out” rule. Containers must be cleaned before refilling, and no product may be stored in cardboard. Break down and discard boxes immediately.
• Keep the baking area clean and tidy throughout the day, following health and safety standards. Ensure the workspace is thoroughly cleaned at the end of each shift.
• Take an active role in opening and closing cleaning procedures.
• Ensure the baking area is properly prepared and organized according to peak production times.
• Know, understand, and implement procedures for handling allergies.
• Work seamlessly with all Island Naturals colleagues.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned from time to time.
The incumbent must have the following:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 3+ yrs. experience working within a commercial restaurant/café environment.
• Flexibility to work across a multitude of shift times including morning, evenings, weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and all bank holidays
• Diploma/qualification from culinary school is considered an asset
• Knowledge of vegan/vegetarian/health food/allergens and impact on kitchen processes is considered an asset
• Ability to function well in a fast paced, busy environment
• Ability to handle all interactions with colleagues and customers in a professional manner
• Energetic and passionate about hospitality industry and Island Naturals
• Polite, welcoming, friendly, and courteous manner
• Flexible and capable of multitasking
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
• Must be able to work on feet for minimum of 8 hours, lift 50 lbs and move tables/chairs/garbage as required

Compensation package on offer for the role includes an hourly salary of CI$9.00 – CI$11.00 Additional benefits include company discount, vacation, health insurance, pension and all statutory benefits required under the Cayman Islands Labour Act.
