Job Title: Automotive Technician Level-2
Department: Service
Reports To: Service Manager
Job Summary – Functions as a skilled-level technician who can perform diagnoses and repairs in all areas listed below, and who has previously worked as a LEVEL-2 general service technician.
Job Duties
• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Documents are performed and recommended electronically on the repair order.
• Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.
• Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools and events.
• Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Supervises work of any trainee technicians as assigned.
• Report’s machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Keeps shop area clean and tidy.
• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received and reports any problems.
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
• Other tasks as required.
Requirements
• Excellent ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak English.
• Ability to perform intermediate math.
• Ability to be self-motivated to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Positive interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to display initiative, work with limited supervision and follow instructions within the framework of a team.
• Ability to timely multitask while working in a fast-paced environment.
• Exhibit excellent attention to detail and commitment.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Ability to work with diverse cultures and teams in a friendly, productive manner.
• Must be able to multitask while working in a fast-paced environment.
• Computer competency required at an intermediate level or higher due.
• Operating and understanding DMS platform would be advantageous
• Relevant vocational qualification such as ASE, IMI, NVQ, BTEC National or City & Guilds etc, other equivalent training and/or experience may also be considered on case-by-case basis.
• Manufacturer certifications in one of our brands would be highly advantageous.
• HV awareness is necessary for safety reasons in our workshop; training can be provided for this if not already held.
• Certifications in electric and high voltage hybrid vehicles, especially our brands, would be highly advantageous.
• Automotive Technical Certification preferred.
• Valid driving License
• 4-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
