Overview
David’s Jewelry Repair is seeking a Watch Maker with proven hands-on watch making experience. This is not an entry-level position. The post holder is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, servicing, repair, adjustment and maintenance of mechanical, automatic, quartz, and other timepieces. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, precision, patience, technical skill and a strong commitment to protecting customers’ watches and delivering high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inspect watched to identify faults, damage, wear and required repairs.
• Diagnose mechanical, automatic, quartz and electronic watch movements.
• Disassemble and reassemble watch movements and components safely and accurately,
• Clean, lubricate, adjust and service watch movements.
• Replace worn, damaged, or defective components.
• Repair or replace watch batteries, crystals, crowns, stems, gaskets and other components.
• Conduct water-resistance checks and pressure testing.
• Handle delicate watch components using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Provide estimates or technical information regarding required repairs when requested.
• Ensure all customer watches are handled securely and professionally while in the company’s possession.
• Assist with stock control of watch parts, batteries, tools and repairs materials.
• Provide guidance to the Assistant Watch Repairer
• Perform other reasonable duties related to watch repair.
Qualification and Experience:
• Minimum 5+ years of proven watch maker experience
• Formal training or certification in watchmaking or watch repair is preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, automatic and quartz movements
• Integrity and professionalism when handling valuable customer property
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Strong attention to detail, time management and able to prioritise tasks effectively
