Position Description: To plan, deliver, and assess high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4, in one or more subjects (Languages, Math, Science and Humanities) ensuring all pupils achieve their full academic and personal potential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging and effective lessons in line with CF School’s teaching and learning policy (based on English National Curriculum for KS3 and Cambridge syllabus for IGCSE)
• Plan, prepare, and assess learning to meet the needs of all pupils.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports high expectations.
• Monitor and report on student progress regularly.
• Manage behaviour in accordance with CF School’s behaviour policy.
• Support the pastoral care of students, acting as a form tutor if required.
• Participate in school events, meetings, and continuous professional development (CPD).
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
• Contribute to the development of departmental schemes of work and resources.
• Support development of children’s universal (not subject specific) key learning skills.
1. Teaching and Learning
• - Demonstrate secure subject knowledge and effective pedagogical skills across the relevant secondary age range.
• - Ensure teaching leads to excellent student progress and the development of strong learning skills in line with OES criteria.
• - Use a variety of teaching methods and strategies aligned with curriculum goals and student needs.
• - Plan and deliver well-structured lessons that provide stretch and support for all learners.
• - Use resources effectively, including ICT, textbooks, and other tools, maintaining them in line with school policies.
• - Work with the Inclusion Team on Learning Plans and support strategies.
• - Deploy support staff effectively in lessons.
• - Uphold high standards of behaviour and manage classroom routines in line with the school’s policy.
• - Liaise with pastoral staff on behaviour and student well-being issues.
2. Marking and Assessment
• - Mark and assess students’ work consistently in line with CF School policy and deadlines.
• - Maintain accurate records of achievement and write reports as required.
• - Analyse data to monitor progress and set appropriate improvement targets.
• - Set and manage homework to reinforce learning in line with CF School homework policy.
• - Accurately record attendance using the school’s platform.
3. Improvement Planning
• - Contribute to whole-school improvement through participation in development workshops.
• - Support Heads of Department and other colleagues in curriculum planning, development and resourcing.
• - Align classroom practice and planning with whole-school aims and targets.
4. Curriculum
• - Contribute to curriculum development through collaboration with Heads of Department and other colleagues.
• - Ensure schemes of work are current, comprehensive, and actively used to guide planning and delivery.
5. Relations with Parents and the Wider Community
• - Maintain regular and constructive communication with parents/guardians.
• - Attend and contribute to parent consultation events.
• - Encourage and support parental engagement in student learning and progress.
6. Managing Own Performance and Development
• - Maintain a thorough understanding of school policies and implement them effectively.
• - Engage in professional development activities and seek to improve practice
• - Stay informed of pedagogical research and subject advancements.
7. Extra-Curricular
• - Participate in and lead extracurricular clubs, activities, and events.
• - Support the House system through participation in inter-house activities and initiatives.
8. Meetings
• - Attend scheduled meetings and contribute to team and school-wide initiatives in line with the school calendar.
9. Pastoral Care
• - Support the ethos of the school through participation in events and assemblies.
• - Act as a homeroom/form tutor where required, supporting students’ academic and personal development.
• - Uphold the pastoral policies and expectations set for form tutors.
10. Supervision of Students
• - Undertake supervision duties as assigned by school leadership.
11. Safeguarding
• - Maintain a thorough understanding and adherence to CF School’s Child Protection and Safeguarding policies.
• - Always uphold the safety and well-being of all students.
• -Adhere to statutory and legal requirements of the Cayman Islands.
12. Salary scale:
• KYD$50,000 - KYD72,000 (based on experience)
• 100% top tier medical insurance paid by the school
• Pension as per labour law
• Triennial resigning bonus of KYD$4,000 if sign a new contract
