Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Evaluating and testing business processes to determine adequacy of controls (design and effectiveness) and compliance with policies and procedures i.e. internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) in accordance with Canadian (NI 52-109)and USA Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements..
• Plan and execute high level audit assignments; perform specific audit procedures, tests, and analyses and prepare audit work papers documenting the work performed and finalising reports recommending improvements to financial, accounting, IT and operational processes i.e. special reviews. Supervises and guide staff on similar projects..
• Performing reviews and tests of controls for the company's requirements regarding regulatory, fraud and legal compliance..
• Assist in the facilitation of enterprise risk assessment (ERM) and assisting management with other special projects, as requested.
• Provide suggestions for the annual audit plan to assure that IARM’s goals are achieved and aligned with the organization’s goals. Assist in drafting quarterly Audit Committee report and its presentation to Executives and the Committee.
• Demonstrate effective project management skills which promote team productivity and the completion of audit projects within time budgets and schedules.
• Managing multiple assignments simultaneously, supervising staff and designated acting Manager in his absence. Liaise with the external auditors and Fortis Inc.
• Other duties as required.
Requirements
Applicants should possess:
• BSc degree in Finance, Accounting, or Computer Science
• Professional qualifications (a combination of these or the equivalent: CISA / CIA / CISM / CPA / CA/ CMA/ACCA/ CFE)
• 5-7 years’ experience in auditing, information technology, fraud, finance or accounting, risk management
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience (audit, risk, controls, fraud, IT) and/or ILM level 3 or above certification
• Strong Project Management skills (PMP will be an advantage).
