We are seeking suitably qualified Paralegals, preferably Caymanians or holders of Employment Rights, to join our Cayman Islands office across a number of practice groups, including Insolvency & Dispute Resolution, Finance & Corporate, Investment Funds, Private Capital & Trusts and Regulatory & Risk Advisory. Paralegals at Walkers provide high quality legal and administrative support to attorneys and play a key role in the efficient delivery of client work. SCOPE AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Across all practice groups, the role will typically include:
• Preparing first drafts of legal and corporate documents, including pleadings, affidavits, contracts, opinions, resolutions, constitutive documents and transaction or matter related materials, as instructed by attorneys.
• Preparing revised and final versions of documents, incorporating comments and managing execution versions.
• Conducting legal and regulatory research and preparing clear, structured research memoranda.
• Managing and executing filings with courts, regulators and registries, as applicable to the matter.
• Supporting transactional and contentious workflows, including closings, bundles, registers, checklists and delivery processes.
• Liaising professionally with clients, counterparties and external service providers under supervision.
• Assisting with billing, invoicing, record keeping and document management.
• Maintaining accurate matter files and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and jurisdiction specific requirements.
• Participating in training, know how initiatives and ongoing professional development.
• Undertaking administrative tasks, special projects and, where required, after hours support.
Our Paralegals support a range of practice groups each of which command specific mandatory skills and experience, outlined below:
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR EACH PRACTICE GROUP
Insolvency & Dispute Resolution (IDR)
• Experience preparing litigation related documents, including pleadings, affidavits, statements, appeals, motions and hearing bundles.
• Familiarity with Cayman Islands court procedures, deadlines and filing requirements.
• Ability to conduct detailed legal research into case law, statutes and procedural rules.
• Experience supporting probate matters, including stamping and court filings.
• Understanding of legal costs, including bills of costs, objections, replies and costs recovery processes.
• Strong organisational skills to manage high volume contentious matters and competing deadlines.
Investment Funds
• Experience drafting or assisting with fund documentation, including offering memoranda, subscription documents and constitutional documents.
• Exposure to fund formations, amendments, registrations and ongoing compliance filings.
• Familiarity with investor onboarding processes and maintenance of fund registers.
• Ability to support fund closings, side letter summaries and transaction checklists.
• Understanding of different fund structures and asset classes would be advantageous.
KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• A bachelor’s degree or recognised paralegal qualification (such as CILEX or equivalent).
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a legal, financial or professional services environment in a document intensive support role.
• Strong drafting, proofreading and document production skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience using document management systems, redlining tools, PDF bundling software and time recording or billing systems.
• A sound understanding of Cayman Islands legal and regulatory frameworks, or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
