Knighthead Annuity and Life Assurance Company is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Vice-President, Actuarial to join our Actuarial team in Cayman.
As a member of the Actuarial team, you are expected to contribute proactively to developing and executing the Company’s primary insurance and reinsurance business strategies by executing actuarial valuation and in-force pricing related financial analytics, advice, and guidance.
Key Responsibilities
Valuation, Reporting & In-Force Management
• Lead actuarial valuation modeling of the Company’s reinsurance business.
• Manage all U.S. GAAP reserve liability disclosures provided to the Company’s auditors at year-end.
• Perform detailed review and sign-off of all monthly reinsurance settlement statements.
• Review Deferred Amortization Cost policies and procedures, including sign-off on recoverability under the relevant methodology.
• Lead and sign off on quarterly experience study analyses supporting actuarial assumptions.
• Lead monthly pricing and rate-setting for the Company’s current in-force direct and reinsurance business.
Pricing, Transactions & Hedging
• Price new business transactions, including reinsurance across multiple product lines and M&A opportunities.
• Lead the Company’s hedging program, including analysis of actual versus expected hedge budget and payoff.
• Provide actuarial support, as requested, for the Company’s Reinsurance Program, Asset Liability Management Program, Liquidity Risk Management Program, Model Governance Function, and Actuarial Transformation Initiative.
Enterprise Risk, Capital & Stress Testing
• Perform analyses supporting the actuarial components of the Company’s Enterprise Risk Management Program.
• Conduct stress testing on in-force and flow business, document testing through the Company’s enhanced enterprise risk management programs, and report results to the Board where required.
• Assist in producing Board materials relating to risk management and capital adequacy, including stress testing and economic capital modeling, in accordance with regulatory, rating agency, and key stakeholder requirements.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
• Develop and strengthen relationships with actuarial contacts across the Company’s on-island and international stakeholder network.
• Work collaboratively with a growing global team and contribute proactively to the Company’s broader business strategy.
Minimum Requirements:
• At least 10 years’ life, annuity and/or reinsurance actuarial experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation.
• Proficiency with GGY AXIS actuarial software.
• Prior experience pricing annuity businesses and structuring transactions.
• Strong understanding of external regulatory reporting, capital and solvency requirements, U.S. GAAP, BCAR and RBC calculations.
• Demonstrated technical actuarial expertise, together with the ability to apply judgement and pragmatism to achieve business objectives.
• Experience designing and implementing efficient, robust and effective actuarial processes with appropriate controls.
• Strong Enterprise Risk Management experience.
