Finisher.

Position Overview

A Finisher is responsible for performing precision carpentry work, focusing on the final stages of wood and millwork installation. This role ensures that wood structures, furniture, fixtures, doors, windows, trims, and other detailed carpentry components are installed, repaired, and finished to the highest quality standards. The Finisher works with a variety of tools, equipment, and materials, applying specialized finishing techniques to deliver flawless, aesthetically pleasing results.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Assembly
• Install doors, door frames, windows, window frames, cabinets, staircases, railings, wall paneling, kitchen cabinets, and other according to plans and specifications.
• Fit, align, and adjust components for proper operation and appearance.
• Assemble prefabricated furniture, casework, and millwork pieces.
• Install decorative moldings, trims, baseboards, wainscoting, crown moldings, chair rails, and other architectural details.
• Ensure all installations comply with building codes, safety standards, and quality requirements.

Measurement, Layout & Design
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
• Take precise measurements to cut, shape, and install components accurately.
• Create templates, patterns, or mock-ups when required.

Tool & Equipment Use
• Operate hand tools (chisels, planes, saws, hammers, drills, screwdrivers) and power tools (routers, sanders, planers, table saws).
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe, working condition.
• Use measuring and leveling instruments (tape measures, calipers, squares, spirit levels, laser levels) to ensure precision.

Safety & Compliance
• Follow workplace safety practices, including the use of PPE.
• Safely handle and dispose of finishing materials, adhesives, solvents, and chemicals.
• Adhere to OSHA (or regional equivalent) regulations and site safety policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.

Skills & Qualifications
• Strong knowledge of carpentry and finishing techniques.
• Proficiency in operating woodworking and finishing tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Keen eye for detail, craftsmanship, and aesthetics.
• Physical stamina and ability to work in various environments (indoor/outdoor, heights, confined spaces).
• Problem-solving skills for fitting, repairing, and finishing complex woodwork.
• Basic knowledge of material properties, adhesives, stains, paints, and coatings.
