The Facilities Supervisor will provide routine maintenance and repairs to building systems, equipment and exterior property grounds. General understanding of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and life/safety systems required in performing these duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Minimum of an associate’s degree in building construction technology, building or related field;
• At least 5 years of operational level experience in building trades divisions and 3 years supervisory or leading skilled crafts persons and maintenance level trades;
• Extraordinary judgment, diplomacy, and presence in dealing with all levels of the organization and external contractors/vendors;
• Ability to work independently and excellent organizational, tracking and communication skills;
• Basic Microsoft Office skills, in particular Microsoft Excel;
• Availability to work weekends or evenings as scheduled.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Preventive maintenance and repair of building grounds, equipment and components including HVAC, building automation system, lighting fixtures, locks, doors, plumbing and bathroom components, carpet, floor and ceiling tile replacement, painting and general upkeep;
• Works collaboratively with campus staff on the schedule of events and performs required room set-up;
• Assist the manager in meeting with vendors regarding building projects.
• On call after hours for urgent needs;
• Familiar with various tools and equipment used for building maintenance and repair.
• Problem-solving/analysis required for basic HVAC components, electrical fixtures, plumbing and building repair;
• Strong customer focus and ability to complete tasks timely with undue interruption to the educational/business operation;
• Oversees buildings, grounds, facilities and equipment maintenance, new construction, improvements and renovations;
• Checks all utilities for safety and operational status;
• Coordinates with outside public utilities as needed;
• Assists with organizing response teams to identify, contain, and clean up spills of hazardous materials and recommends emergency measures, such as evacuation, to prevent exposure to hazardous materials;
• Serves as deputy lead, in the absence of the Facilities and Plant Manager, to UCCI’s Hurricane/Disaster Emergency Committee.
