Duct Installer / Pipefitter - Carib Mechanical Ltd..

Position Overview
The Duct Installer / Pipe Fitter will be responsible for installation ductwork, galvanized, stainless steel, aluminium, fibrous duct board, spiral or round with s-slip / drive, flanged or welded, per duct shop drawings and/or cut tickets in a safe, neat and orderly manner connecting to air handling and fan coil units. Install pipework, valves, fixtures and other accessories on pipework systems.

Key Responsibilities
• Layout and install mechanical equipment to include, but not limited to, terminal unit boxes, fan coil units, exhaust fans (utility vent sets, sidewall, in-line, ceiling, centrifugal up blast and downflow), split system A/C units, AHU’s RTU’s.
• Install fire dampers, smoke dampers and fire/ smoke dampers per code and manufacturer installation guidelines.
• Must be able to make field alterations to ductwork, such as 3-piece offsets, 1-piece offsets, 90-degree, 45-degree elbows and transitions, to adjust to field conditions when required.
• Install grilles, registers and diffusers to include, but not limited to, lay-in grilles, surface mount grilles, linear diffusers and laminar flow diffusers.
• Inspect, examine and test all ductwork and pipework systems by using duct pressure test machine, pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
• Cut and thread pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders.
• Must have knowledge of the piping system being installed (PVC i.e. BlazeMaster, and steel pipe)
• Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by cementing, pressing, bolted coupling, and threading joints.
• Lay out of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following plans, sealed drawings, details, and specifications
• Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, according to specifications and details.
• Must be able to work at various heights above floor with ladder, scaffold, and manlift when required.

Qualifications and Skills
• Qualifications required is mainly experienced, rather than a specific qualification.
• Must own all hand tools needed to perform his duties.
• 4-5 years’ experience in working as a Ductwork Installer / Pipe Fitter.

Salary range is CI $20.00 - $24.00 per hour depending on experience. Health insurance and pension provided as mandated by law. Two weeks paid vacation-time provided annually.

This is a full-time position requiring 45 hours a week. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 5 pm. This position operates outdoor in the tropical environment and applicant must be able to lift up to 50lbs. The project is located on West Bay Road.
