The successful candidate will be responsible for structural timber and metal framing, concrete formwork, exterior and interior finishing, and general on-site carpentry works in compliance with Cayman Islands building codes and safety regulations. Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesBlueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret architectural blueprints, structural drawings, sketches, and project specifications to determine layout and calculate material requirements. Formwork & Foundations: Construct, erect, brace, and strip secure wooden and metal forms for concrete foundations, footings, columns, and slabs, ensuring all forms are plumb, level, and square. Structural Framing: Fabricate, erect, and install timber and light-gauge metal wall studs, floor joists, ceiling systems, and roof trusses. Drywall & Interior Systems: Hang, fasten, and fit drywall panels, wallboards, and exterior sheathing. Finishing Carpentry: Accurately measure, cut, fit, and install exterior/interior doors, window frames, casings, baseboards, crown moldings, cabinetry, and architectural hardware. Maintenance & Repairs: Inspect, reinforce, repair, or replace damaged structural woodwork, framing, and decorative fixtures. Site Safety & Tool Care: Safely operate power tools (table saws, miter saws, pneumatic nail guns, drills) and hand tools; adhere strictly to jobsite safety standards and maintain clean work zones. Trade Support & Collaboration: Assist site supervisors and coordinate with fellow tradesmen and helpers to meet project deadlines with high standards of craftsmanship. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum of 5 to 10+ years of proven, hands-on experience in commercial and residential carpentry. Demonstrated expertise in both rough structural framing/formwork and detailed finish carpentry. Competent in reading blueprints, taking precise measurements, and calculating material take-offs to minimize site waste. Proficient in the safe operation and maintenance of carpentry power tools and equipment. Strong physical stamina and fitness: able to lift 50+ lbs, climb scaffolding/ladders, and work outdoors in tropical heat. Clean police clearance certificate and certified medical fitness clearance.
