The position requires the successful applicant to captain an 80 to 350 person passenger vessel and be responsible for maintenance, safety, and upkeep of the vessel.
Work hours are very varied and during the winter season, they can be very long. Early starts are the norm, not the exception. Also, weekend work will be required.

- Responsible for securing/releasing the ship lines by guiding and leading the mooring team;
- Assist in moving passengers and equipment;
- Undertake the cleaning and maintenance of equipment of the destination pier;
- Inspects the boat, both internally and externally, to ensure it is safe for crew and passengers, as well as seaworthy;
- Manage the evacuation of a boat, if required;
- Ensure the proper docking and undocking of vessels;
- Must have a practical mind and be able to work efficiently with attention to detail; and
- Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally.
