What this role is all about

This is not just about making coffee — it is about creating a small moment of joy in someone’s day. As our Barista, you will be the friendly face behind the counter, serving great coffee, fresh food, and warm hospitality with pace, personality, and care.

You will help keep the café running smoothly by preparing drinks and food, supporting daily orders and stock, keeping the space clean and inviting, and making sure every customer leaves feeling looked after.

What you will bring to the counter - Customer service with sparkle

• Greet customers with genuine warmth and make them feel welcome from the moment they arrive.
• Share specials, new items, and recommendations with confidence.
• Take orders, handle payments, and keep service moving smoothly during busy periods.
• Upsell naturally by helping customers discover something they will love.
• Support a positive, upbeat atmosphere for customers and teammates.
• Handle questions or concerns professionally and escalate when needed.
• Share weekly notes on customer feedback, café highlights, and any operational issues.

Coffee, food and feel-good service
• Prepare and serve quality coffee, beverages, hot breakfasts, buffet lunches, pastries, cakes, and pre-packaged items to company standards.
• Serve correct portions and present food in a way that looks fresh, appetising, and on-brand.
• Place daily, accurate orders with the MEP Kitchen, MEP Warehouse, and the Bakeshop.
• Record daily wastage clearly and accurately.
Keeping the café buzzing
• Help with food and beverage preparation, cleaning, and general café set-up.
• Keep displays, signs, counters, and service areas looking fresh, tidy, and inviting.
• Replenish stock in display cases, tables, and behind the counter.
• Operate POS and cashiering systems confidently and accurately.
• Receive and check deliveries, flagging any issues to the supervisor.
• Complete stock counts and record results using Marketman.
• Keep workspaces organised, labelled, and ready for a smooth shift.

Clean, safe and ready to shine

• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and safe food handling standards.
• Keep work areas, surfaces, equipment, and utensils clean and sanitised.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures.
• Check delivery temperatures and help prevent cross-contamination.
• Empty rubbish as needed and keep the café environment safe and tidy.
• Follow MEP uniform and presentation standards, including clothing, jewellery, hygiene, hair, and nails.
• Report concerns or issues to the Barista Supervisor promptly.

• You take pride in personal presentation and high hygiene standards.
• You have the stamina to stand for long periods and can lift up to 50 lbs.

Must-have
• Valid Cayman Islands Driver’s Licence.
• Clear Police Clearance Report.
• Food Handling Certificate or we will help you obtain one.
