Associate Professor of Environmental Science.

OVERVIEW:
The Associate Professor – STEM & HEALTH, reporting into the Dean or designee of UCCI, will develop and teach courses at the University College of the Cayman Islands at both the undergraduate (Associate and Baccalaureate) and graduate levels. The postholder will undertake scholarship and/or projects within the campus or community where these complement the activities of the University, and as this is a senior level appointment, mentor junior members of the University faculty. The post holder will engage in multiple other activities related to the teaching and learning enterprise.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Doctorate in area of competence.
• Demonstrated teaching excellence with at least eight (8) years of proven pedagogical competence at the tertiary level.
• Authoritative knowledge in field of specialization.
• Established leader in field of expertise as evidenced by publications of book chapters, texts, and papers in leading local, regional, and international journals.
• A notable body of scholarly work that can include published articles, chapters and books, technical assistance, policy analysis, programme evaluation, etc.
• Regular presentations at academic conferences.
• Strong record of professionally related service, new course development, new instructional methods, case development and use, etc.
• Must have substantial experience in carrying out research and applicable professional experience.
• Must have demonstrated excellence in guiding and counselling students towards pursuing advanced courses of study.
• Experience in the development of new courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Experience in the development of new university business partnerships.
• Membership in leading professional organizations.
• Participation in post-graduate teaching.
• Evidence of student mentorship.
• Leadership in programme initiatives.
• Demonstrated capacity to serve as consultant in field of expertise.
• Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to junior academic staff.
• Evidence of collaborative research work with UCCI or other university academics.
• Proven capacity to deliver in hybrid and online modalities.

ACCOUNTABILITIES SPECIFIC TO THE ROLE:
• Teaching and Learning (70% - 75%)
• Make a contribution to the Institute’s undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes that is consistent with the University’s mission and core commitments.
• Design, prepare and develop teaching materials.
• Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials in accordance with the allocated teaching load.
• Assess students' coursework.
• Mark, assess, record and submit results.
• Maintain student records and monitor students’ progress.
• Conduct tutorials, workshops and facilitate other learning experiences, including video link courses for Cayman Brac students.
• Work collaboratively with the Dean to maintain and develop effective and efficient programme delivery.
• Ensure the quality of all courses and programmes in accordance with the guidelines of the UCCI Curriculum Committee.
• Develop and implement new teaching methods to reflect changes in research and best practices.
• Support students through an advisory role and maintain office hours.
• Supervise students’ projects, research, internships and practicum activities.
• Service (15% - 20%)
• Participate in service activities that support the Institute, University, profession and wider community.
• Research (10% - 15%)
