ACCOUNTS CLERK
Key Responsibilities
Accounts clerks perform a variety of accounting and administrative tasks, including:
• Accounts Payable and Receivable: Processing invoices, payments, and receipts, and maintaining vendor and customer accounts
• Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate financial records, entering data into ledgers or accounting software, and reconciling discrepancies
• Financial Reporting: Preparing reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and sales tax reports, and assisting in financial statement preparation
• Administrative Support: Assisting accountants with bookkeeping, payroll, procurement requests, and other clerical duties.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Successful accounts clerks typically possess:
• Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent; some positions may require an associate degree in accounting or finance
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP), Microsoft Excel, Word, and other office tools
• Analytical and Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and ensure accuracy in financial data
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication for interacting with staff, vendors, and clients
• Attention to Detail: Accuracy in calculations, record-keeping, and reporting is essential
• Experience: Some roles require prior experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a similar administrative setting.
