Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Welder Fabricator to join our maintenance and operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying out, cutting, fitting, fabricating and assembling new structural steel components, as well as executing modifications and structural repairs on heavy plant machinery, aggregate equipment and quarry infrastructure. This role bridges precision workshop fabrication with heavy-duty structural reinforcement, requiring the ability to transform materials into finished metallic structures while ensuring all welds withstand severe operational stress.
Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience
• While formal certification is preferred, verifiable experience can be accepted in its place.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of verifiable experience as a Welder Fabricator, ideally within heavy aggregate, excavation, or quarrying environments.
• Proven ability to accurately read, interpret, and work directly from engineering blueprints, structural drawings, and technical specifications.
• Advanced proficiency in fabricating and welding heavy-gauge carbon steel, structural shapes and alloy plates using welding processes.
• Experience fabricating, reinforcing, and repairing components subjected to extreme, cyclic mechanical stress, violent vibrations, and high impact (such as structural frameworks, conveyor systems, and heavy machinery attachments).
• Advanced proficiency in Air Carbon Arc Gouging and oxy-fuel cutting torches for weld removal, metal shaping, and defect excavation.
• Proven experience preparing, treating, and priming raw metallic surfaces to prevent severe rust and oxidation caused by continuous salt-air exposure.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
• Must be capable of lifting heavy materials and comfortable working outdoors in sustained high temperatures, high humidity and confined or elevated machinery spaces.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a strict commitment to safety protocols.
Compensation & Benefits Base Salary Range: CI$15.00 – CI$17.00 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications).
Standard Benefits: Full statutory health insurance and pension contributions as per Cayman Islands Labour Law.
