Ocean Blue Construction is seeking a hardworking, physically fit and dependable Tiler/Mason to join our team.

DUTIES & WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a physically demanding and strenuous position. Applicants must be prepared to work long hours performing continuous manual labour in active construction environments.

The Tiler/Mason will be required to:

• Lay and install floor and wall tiles accurately, including ceramic, porcelain and other tile materials.
• Measure, mark, cut, shape and properly position tiles.
• Prepare floors, walls and other surfaces for tile installation.
• Mix and apply mortar, cement, grout, adhesives and other construction materials.
• Construct, repair and finish concrete blocks, walls, floors and other masonry structures.
• Perform plastering, rendering, patching and concrete repair as required.
• Measure, level, align and finish work accurately according to job requirements.
• Carry and move heavy bags of cement, blocks, tiles, tools, equipment and construction materials throughout the workday.
• Regularly lift, bend, kneel, squat, stretch, climb and stand for extended periods.
• Load and unload vehicles and transport materials around job sites.
• Set up and move tools, equipment, scaffolding and work materials as required.
• Remove old tiles, mortar, concrete and other materials using appropriate hand and power tools.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and clean tools and equipment.
• Work indoors and outdoors in hot, humid, dusty and physically demanding conditions.
• Follow all workplace safety procedures and supervisors’ instructions.
• Perform other masonry, tiling and strenuous manual duties necessary to complete projects on schedule.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be physically fit, punctual, reliable and experienced in tiling and masonry work. Applicants must be able to perform accurate, quality workmanship while maintaining productivity throughout a long working day.

The successful applicant must be capable of repeated heavy lifting, kneeling, bending, carrying materials and performing continuous physical labour.

This position is not suitable for persons who are unable or unwilling to perform strenuous construction work for extended periods.
