Reporting to the Deputy Head - Development, the Solution Architect is a key technical role responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of technology solutions that align with CIMA's goals and technical requirements. They act as a bridge between business challenges and technological solutions, ensuring that the software architecture is scalable, reliable, and efficient. This role requires a deep understanding of both technical and business aspects, excellent communication skills to interact with both technical teams and business stakeholders, and a comprehensive knowledge of current and emerging technologies to devise innovative and effective solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will:
• Design architectures that not only meet current business needs but are also scalable, flexible, secure and sustainable over time, accommodating future growth and technology evolution;
• Ensure that the technological solutions proposed and implemented effectively support the organisation's operational objectives, strategic goals, facilitate growth and seamlessly integrate with existing systems to minimise disruption to business operations;
• Ensure solutions comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, particularly concerning data security and privacy;
• Create clear and concise documentation of the architecture, outlining design decisions, rationale, and implementation details;
• Develop proofs of concept to demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of proposed solutions, especially when evaluating new or less familiar technologies;
• Design solutions that comply with relevant laws, regulations, and security standards. Implement security best practices to protect data and systems from cyber threats;
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools that best meet the business needs, budget, and existing technology landscape;
• Thoroughly assess CIMA’s current technology landscape, including legacy systems, infrastructure, and processes;
• Develop comprehensive solution architectures that meet The Authority’s requirements and integrate with existing IT infrastructure;
• Provides effective technical training sessions to end-users to enhance their technical knowledge and skills;
• Effectively communicate the solution designs to stakeholders at all levels, gaining buy-in and managing expectations;
• Provides ongoing coaching, technical advice, and guidance to assist Business Analysts, Programmers/Developers, and Database Administrators in performing their duties optimally;
REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job are as follows:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field; and
• Minimum six (6) years of experience as a Solution Architect, Senior Software Engineer or Development Team Lead within a corporate environment or as part of a large project.
• Minimum ten (10) of software development experience.
• Professional Qualifications or Certifications in:
• Cloud Computing Architecture;
• Enterprise Architecture (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman);
• Project Management (Prince2, SAFe, Scrum etc.) are assets
• Experience in developing applications using .NET technologies and JavaScript Frameworks, understanding the ecosystems, libraries, and tools with exposure to the full project lifecycle.
• Deep understanding of the Microsoft Ecosystem including Application Security, Operating Systems, Windows Server Ecosystem, Active Directory, Group Policy configuration, Networking, Databases, Development Frameworks, Azure etc.
• Solid grasp of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman Framework), system integration patterns, service-oriented architectures (SOA).
