As a Writer, Researcher and Editor at Acorn Media your job will be to help write, research and edit content for our digital and print products. This will include researching and updating content for the Cayman Parent, Cayman Resident, Explore Cayman, Good Taste magazines and websites, plus researching and writing content for our Explore Cayman and WhatOn apps. This will include checking existing content but also creating new content and writing articles and newsletters. It is a challenging role, and the ideal candidate will be an all-rounder who is meticulous in their work, incredibly organised, and can write, spell, do research and edit content to a very high standard.
Required Skills:
- Exceptional English language, proof reading and writing skills
- Above average ability to take a client's promotional material and condense it into a concise, factual and beautifully written paragraph
- Must be meticulous in their organisational skills
- Be self-motivated, able to work to tight deadlines and work fast and consistently
- Be a team player, proactive and have a clean driving license
- successfully passing the Acorn writing test which includes a test on your creative and factual writing skills, concision skills, grammar, spelling and proof reading test.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years’ work experience with proven ability to write well and do research
- A university education with a minimum of 2:1 Hons (or equivalent), ideally in Journalism, English or Politics
- Digital marketing experience including social media management and content creation.
Experience of the following would be advantageous
- Knowledge of Adobe products (Adobe Suite and InDesign)
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Teams and Mailchimp
