JOB TITLE: Senior Estimator

SALARY: CI$90,000 - CI$125,000 pa

WORKING HOURS: 45 HOURS PER WEEK

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 2-year contract

We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team and report directly to the Managing Estimator. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall estimating function for all current and potential projects.

DO YOU HAVE:

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, quantity surveying, or an equivalent combination of technical experience and training
A minimum of 10 years of cost estimating experience within the construction industry, preferably in the Caribbean region, on projects valued at US$50M or greater
A MRICS designation or other equivalent professional qualification
A broad understanding of real estate development
Experience in preparing and delivering presentations to internal teams and clients, ensuring information is communicated clearly and effectively
A strong understanding of cost controls, material requirements, building design, and construction technology, commonly used across the Caribbean region
Knowledge of construction unit rates in the Cayman Islands
Experience in estimating BIM designed projects
Experience in concept and feasibility stage estimating is desirable
Attention to detail and organization, with strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Take-Off software
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays

WE WANT YOU TO:

Independently deliver accurate cost estimates, including reviewing project design and developing detailed Bills of Quantities
Present estimates to team members, consultants, and executives
Provide high-level concept and feasibility estimating, offering early-stage cost guidance across projects
Interpret design intent and project scope to deliver practical, data-driven cost advice at the earliest stages of project feasibility
Research labor, materials, logistics, and market factors to inform cost-effective recommendations
Maintain detailed records of actual costs, both local and international vendors, to support future project estimates
Generate cost and design economic benchmarking for all projects
Ensure strong QA/QC processes
Monitor risks and maintain early warning registers on all projects to ensure the project team is aware of potential impacts of design development
Support procurement activities, including negotiating large and complex subcontracts
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, vendors, suppliers, and external contacts
Effectively plan and manage the compilation of numerous estimates or bids concurrently
Mentor and support junior team members
Take ownership of additional related duties, such as monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
