Primary Purpose: As a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, you will bring your extensive expertise in couples and family therapy, child development, and neuropathological disorders to our dynamic team. You will work with individuals, couples, and families to address a variety of mental health issues, including sexual dysfunction and deviancy. You will provide therapy that is evidence-based and tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.
Principal Responsibilities:
As a Psychotherapist/Counsellor, you will:
Establish a relationship of trust and respect with clients
agree a counselling contract to determine what will be covered in sessions (including confidentiality issues)
Encourage clients to talk about issues they feel they cannot normally share with others
Actively listen to client concerns and empathise with their position
Accept without bias the issues raised by clients
Help clients towards a deeper understanding of their concerns
Challenge any inconsistencies in what clients say or do
Support clients to make decisions and choices regarding possible ways forward
Fefer clients to other sources of help, as appropriate
Attend supervision and training courses
Undertake personal therapy (mandatory for accreditation)
Liaise, as necessary, with other agencies and individuals, such as GPs, hospitals and community mental health teams, to help make changes based on the issues raised by clients
Work to agreed targets in relation to client contact
Undertake group as well as individual therapy on occasions
Keep records and use reporting tools.
Provide individual, couples, and family therapy sessions, focusing on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and fostering healthy relationships.
Utilise your expertise in child development to offer therapeutic support to children and families, addressing issues such as behavioural problems, developmental delays and family dynamics.
Work with clients experiencing sexual dysfunction and deviancy, offering a non-judgmental and therapeutic environment for addressing these issues.
Apply knowledge of neuropathological disorders to support clients with conditions such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and other special needs.
Support clients experiencing trauma, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, sexual trauma, sexual dysfunction and other complex mental health concerns.
Provide age-appropriate trauma therapy to children, incorporating play-based approaches where clinically indicated.
Deliver individual and group therapy within a confidential, compassionate and non-judgemental environment.
Provide specialist support and psychoeducation relating to sexual health, intimacy, sexual safety and healthy relationships.
Support victims and survivors of sexual abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence and other traumatic experiences.
Provide psychotherapeutic intervention to individuals involved with the criminal justice or correctional system, including people on parole who require continued therapeutic support during reintegration.
Complete risk assessments and respond appropriately to concerns relating to suicide, self-harm, abuse, exploitation or safeguarding.
Develop and implement personalised treatment plans that align with clients’ goals and needs.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, as necessary, to provide comprehensive care to clients.
Stay current with the latest research and developments in psychotherapy, child development, sexual health and neuropathological disorders.
Participate in regular supervision, peer consultation, and continuing education to maintain and enhance professional skills.
Specialist Responsibilities:
Develop Psychotherapy/Counselling services at Chatterbox.
Make links with Government and private providers who may refer clients.
Educate stakeholders about Psychotherapy/Counselling and who can be helped.
Liaise with other team members regarding how Psychotherapy/Counselling can fit in with other therapies and education programmes.
Provide play therapy for children.
Other duties and requirements:
To record relevant data.
To keep accurate notes of therapy sessions in BetterClinics
To assist with keeping accounts of hours worked (clinical and non clinical), clients seen and cost of services.
To develop and implement new services.
To keep the therapy rooms tidy and maintain resources in good working order.
To attend meetings, as required.
To lend support/assistance in the management of the day to day running and administration of the Company.
To undertake any reasonable directions given by the Director.
