Montessori School of Cayman is accepting applications for the post of: Certified Montessori Early Years Practitioner
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 2 years teaching experience leading a Montessori Classroom and knowledge of the Montessori Pedagogy.
- Teaching Diploma in Montessori Education from a reputable training organisation.
- Leadership experience. Confidence in leading a team and parent communication.
- Applicant must have a positive attitude and must enjoy working in a Montessori environment with children aged 18 months-3 years old.
- Applicant must have excellent leadership skills and must be flexible.
Montessori Lead Guide: Responsibilities & Duties
1. Classroom Management & Montessori Environment
Create and maintain a safe, clean, and engaging Montessori learning environment that fosters independence and curiosity.
Arrange the classroom with age-appropriate Montessori materials and rotate them based on children’s interests and developmental needs.
Ensure all materials are clean, organized, and in good condition for use.
Implement daily routines and smooth transitions to promote order and consistency.
Maintain an optimum Montessori atmosphere, ensuring respect, order, and a calm learning environment.
Organize and assist with weekly sanitizing of classroom materials.
2. Instruction & Child Development
Guide children through Montessori lessons and activities, allowing them to learn at their own pace.
Provide individualized and small-group instruction, focusing on practical life, sensory, language, and social-emotional skills.
Observe, assess, and document children’s progress, behaviors, and learning milestones.
Maintain updated student files on Transparent Classroom, planning lessons and recording work they have done.
Create and maintain individual learning portfolios for each child.
Conduct termly assessments on students using school assessment platform and group assessments on Unit Rubric.
Protect the child’s freedom to choose, work without interruption, and remain free from emotional or physical harm.
Adapt teaching methods to support diverse learning styles and developmental needs.
Communicate any concerns with school SENCO and implement needed strategies into your environment to support children with additional needs.
3. Social & Emotional Development
Foster a nurturing and respectful classroom culture that encourages self-discipline and independence.
Model and guide children in grace, courtesy, conflict resolution, and respectful communication.
Encourage collaboration and positive peer interactions to build strong social skills.
Support children in developing emotional self-regulation and a sense of community.
4. Parent Communication & Engagement
Establish and maintain open, professional, and respectful communication with parents.
Conduct bi-annual parent-teacher conferences to discuss child progress, development, and any concerns.
Provide regular updates and progress reports through newsletters, emails, or school apps.
Offer guidance to parents on implementing Montessori principles at home.
Participate in scheduled parent evenings, school events, and prospective parent tours as required.
5. Team Communication & Collaboration
Lead and guide Assistant teachers to administer a high-quality Montessori programme to your students.
Work closely with assistant teachers, ensuring consistency in Montessori approaches.
Provide mentorship, support, and training to assistant teachers.
Communicate daily with the team to ensure smooth classroom operations and address any concerns.
Delegate classroom responsibilities to organize and share tasks amongst the team.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school-wide initiatives.
6. Communication with Leadership
Maintain clear and professional communication with the Head of School and school administration.
Provide updates on classroom progress, student development, and any challenges.
Collaborate with leadership to ensure alignment with Montessori philosophy and school policies.
7. Health & Safety
Supervise children at all times, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
Follow all school safety policies, emergency procedures, and first-aid protocols.
Maintain accurate records for attendance, incidents, and developmental observations.
Ensure proper hygiene practices, including diapering, handwashing, and mealtime supervision.
Be knowledgeable about child abuse indicators, reporting responsibilities, and emergency evacuation procedures.
8. Administrative Duties
Use Transparent Classroom to record student attendance, arrival, dismissal, daily tracking (snack, toileting, naps), and progress updates.
Check classroom emails regularly and relay messages as needed.
Assist in planning and organizing weekly themes, project weeks, and newsletters.
Prepare and submit termly progress reports and end-of-year report cards.
9. Professional Development
Stay updated on Montessori best practices and early childhood education trends.
Seek opportunities for continuing education and professional growth.
Implement feedback from classroom observations and evaluations to improve teaching practices.
Starting Salary: $4000 per month plus benefits required by law.
