Job OverviewBig Ben Construction is seeking a reliable, versatile Multi-Skilled Tradesman proficient across masonry, steel-fixing, drywall installation, and structural carpentry. The successful candidate will carry out commercial and residential building projects across active job sites in Grand Cayman with minimal supervision. Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesMasonry Works: Mix mortar and concrete; lay concrete blocks, bricks, and stone; perform structural wall construction, slab preparation, plastering, rendering, screeding, and decorative concrete finishes. Steel-Fixing & Reinforcement: Read structural drawings to measure, cut, bend, position, assemble, and wire-tie reinforcing steel bars (rebar) and mesh grids for foundations, columns, beams, and suspended slabs. Drywall Installation & Finishing: Frame metal and timber studs, hang drywall/sheetrock boards, apply joint compound, tape, skim, sand, and finish interior walls and drop ceilings to paint-ready standards. Carpentry & Formwork: Build, erect, and brace wooden formwork/shuttering for concrete pours; frame partitions, floors, and ceilings; install interior/exterior doors, window frames, trims, and roof framing. Site Safety & Tool Maintenance: Safely operate all standard manual and power tools, maintain scaffolding, adhere strictly to site safety regulations, and keep staging areas clean.Required Qualifications & SkillsExperience: 15–20+ years of verifiable, hands-on construction experience preferred; however, applicants with less than 10 years of experience may be acceptable based on demonstrated skill, versatility, and practical competence. Technical Competence: Ability to read building plans, verify dimensions, and execute structural assignments accurately without direct oversight.
