Position Overview: We are seeking a well experienced and highly responsible Carpenter / Mason which will provide and contribute to the overall efficiency and success of our growing construction and interior fit-out projects.
Salary Range: KYD $12.00 – KYD $15.00/ hour (commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Working Hours: Monday – Saturday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, building plans, sketches to determine dimensions, materials and layout.
• Preparing and organizing tools, materials, and equipment for construction projects.
• Perform physical tasks such as carrying and lifting materials, digging trenches, and setting up scaffolding.
• Transport and position required materials and equipment across the job site as directed, optimizing workflow and minimizing downtime.
• Support the installation and assembly of wooden structures, concrete forms, and masonry work according to project specifications.
• Skilled and experienced in concrete blocks.
• Participate in measuring, cutting, and shaping materials to precise dimensions and configurations as directed by the Project Manager.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring the safe and proper use of storage of tools, materials, and equipment at the construction site.
• Use various power tools to securely build assigned projects.
• Installing fixtures and finishing elements such as doors, windows, molding, cabinets, shelving’s, stairs, drywall, insulation and hardware.
• Estimating materials, ordering supplies precise alignment/leveling using tools.
• Inspecting, restoring, repairing and replacing damaged structures/fixtures.
• Adheres to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to construction site regulations
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• A minimum of five (5) years of hands-on professional experience specifically in painting and surface coating applications within the construction or building maintenance industry.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with painters, supervisors, contractors, clients, and other trades on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Excellent physical fitness, including strength, endurance, stamina, and superior hand-eye coordination to safely perform repetitive manual tasks, work at heights, and handle equipment in demanding environments.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings, coupled with the ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions.
• Demonstrated design capabilities, including creative problem-solving and practical application of design principles in construction contexts.
• Comprehensive knowledge of building materials, construction methods, techniques, and industry standards.
• Meticulous attention to detail, with a commitment to precision, quality control, and thorough execution of tasks.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation, initiative, and sound judgment.
• Possession of a valid Cayman Islands driver's license and reliable personal transportation (highly desirable to facilitate mobility between job sites).
• Current legal authorization to work in the Cayman Islands
