We are seeking a dependable, organized, and motivated Line Cook to join our coffee house team. The Line Cook prepares fresh, high-quality food, maintains a clean, sanitary kitchen, and keeps daily kitchen operations running smoothly. The ideal candidate is a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to food quality, safety, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and assemble menu items including salads, cold sandwiches, daily soups, pastries, and other food offerings according to company recipes and standards.
• Assist with daily food preparation, including washing, chopping, portioning, labeling, and stocking ingredients.
• Ensure all food is presented consistently and meets quality standards.
• Monitor food inventory and notify management of low stock or supply needs.
• Rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures and minimize food waste.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, storage, and food preparation areas at all times.
• Wash dishes, utensils, equipment, and kitchen tools as needed.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Remove trash and recycling throughout the shift and maintain cleanliness of waste disposal areas.
• Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
• Perform opening and closing kitchen duties as assigned.
• Provide support at any of the company's three coffee house locations as scheduled.
Qualifications
• Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or kitchen assistant is preferred.
• Knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling.
• Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one) is preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 9-hour shifts).
• Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move boxes, supplies, and garbage bags weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in hot and cold kitchen environments.
Schedule & Availability
• Early morning shifts, typically up to 9 hours.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• Overtime may be required based on business needs.
• Must be willing to work at any of the company's three locations as assigned.
Working Conditions
• Fast-paced coffee house and kitchen environment.
• Frequent interaction with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
• Exposure to kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.
