Cook Assistant.

Moon Light Cayman LTD T/A The Chill Spot is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation of authentic Jamaican cuisine while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the Head Cook/Chef in preparing authentic Jamaican dishes.
Wash, peel, chop, season, and prepare ingredients for cooking.
Prepare basic menu items according to established recipes and kitchen procedures.
Ensure food is handled, stored, and prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and food preparation areas.
Assist with receiving, checking, and storing food deliveries.
Monitor inventory levels and report shortages to the Head Cook or Kitchen Manager.
Assist with plating and serving meals during busy service periods.
Properly dispose of kitchen waste and maintain a safe working environment.
Comply with all company policies and health and safety regulations.
Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Cook Assistant or in a similar role within a Jamaican or Caribbean restaurant.
Sound knowledge of authentic Jamaican cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
