Cayman Academy invites applications from suitably qualified and committed educators for the position of English Language and Literature Teacher (CSEC English Language, CSEC English Literature).
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Planning and delivering engaging lessons in English Language, English Literature, aligned with CSEC and ATCU curriculum standards.
• Preparing students for external examinations, including CSEC English Language, and CSEC English Literature.
• Teaching essential language skills including reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary development, oral communication, listening, and critical analysis.
• Teaching literary genres including poetry, prose, drama, and Caribbean literature while fostering an appreciation for literature and culture.
• Developing students' critical thinking, analytical writing, research, communication, and presentation skills through a variety of instructional strategies.
• Using authentic texts, current events, media, debates, literature, and technology to promote meaningful learning experiences.
• Designing assessments, projects, presentations, and collaborative learning activities that encourage creativity, inquiry, and independent thinking.
• Monitoring student progress and providing timely, constructive feedback to support continuous academic improvement.
• Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, assessment data, grades, and academic reports.
• Integrating Christian values, biblical principles, ethical communication, and responsible citizenship into classroom instruction.
• Participating actively in school worships, extracurricular activities, professional development, curriculum development, and other school initiatives.
• Collaborating effectively with colleagues, parents, and school administration to promote student achievement and well-being.
• Demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to the mission, philosophy, and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in English, English Education, Literature, or a closely related field.
• A recognized teaching qualification and eligibility for teacher registration/licensing.
• Experience teaching CSEC English Language and English Literature is required.
• Experience teaching CAPE Communication Studies is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of Caribbean curriculum standards and CXC examination requirements.
• Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to integrating faith and learning within a Seventh-day Adventist educational environment.
Salary Range:
$37,000 - $55,000 Annually – Based on qualifications and experience.

All applicants must have at least 2 years’ experience in the subject area. The preferred candidates must be active participants in their respective churches and are in good and regular standings.
