JOB VACANCY: CHEF
Employer: Shelby Carlos & Kenneth Davis T/A Jerk BBQ Hut
Location: 174 North Church Street, George Town, Grand Cayman
Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Rate of Pay: CI$8.75 per hour
Benefits: Health Insurance, Pension, and Paid Vacation (as mandated by Cayman Islands Law)
Job Overview & Duties:
• Culinary Preparation & Grilling: Prepare, season, marinate, and grill meats and dishes according to Jerk BBQ Hut signature recipes and standards.
• Kitchen Management: Oversee daily kitchen operations and maintain efficient food preparation and service during peak hours.
• Stock & Inventory Control: Monitor food supplies, manage stock levels, and assist with inventory orders to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect all ingredients and finished dishes to ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.
• Hygiene & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations, sanitation protocols, and kitchen cleanliness standards.
• Staff Guidance: Assist in training junior staff on prep work to ensure menu consistency.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Minimum 6 years of professional culinary experience in a commercial kitchen or catering environment (Note: Qualified applicants with less than 6 years of verified relevant experience will also be considered).
• Vocational/technical certification in culinary arts or food preparation is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of jerk seasoning, marinating, and high-volume grill operations.
• Ability to work on feet for long periods in a fast-paced environment, including peak hours, evenings, and weekends.
• Strong commitment to food hygiene and safety standards.
