Invites application for the position of Cement and Aggregates Materials Supervisor.
Duties:
The successful candidate will be responsible to coordinate and supervise the discharge, transportation and storage of cement and aggregates from vessels in Cayman, including:
• supervising all laborers in their daily cleanup and cement palletizing duties,
• arranging vessel arrivals in discharge ports, by coordinating management, crew, Port Authority, Department of Customs and Department of Agriculture,
• clearing incoming vessels through Port Customs, Port Authority, Department of Agriculture,
• assisting with the operation of all plant equipment used to discharge, as necessary,
• scheduling truckers and controlling the haulage from the port to the storage sites,
• monitoring the speed of the entire discharge cycle and optimizing for efficiency,
• notifying management of any potential or current breach of safety policy for unloading operations,
• enforcing company’s spill response plans,
• assisting with any emergency maintenance and troubleshooting onshore unloading equipment and terminal / depot storage equipment, as necessary,
• reporting and coordinating all repairs and servicing of unloading equipment with the Maintenance team,
• procuring and arranging delivery of supplies and materials needed by vessels calling Cayman,
• clearing vessels for departure through Cayman Customs and Port Authority,
• clearing vessel personnel through airport and seaport Immigration as required,
• transporting vessel personnel in Cayman as required, and
• other duties as required by management.
This is not an entry-level position. The Cement and Aggregates Materials Supervisor plays a key role the importation of raw materials and reports to the Operations Manager and oversees the work of other personnel. Regular operating hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 12:00 pm Saturday (45 regular hours per week, 195 average regular hours per month). 24/7 availability is critically important for this role. All employees are subject to random testing for drugs and alcohol.
Requirements:
At a minimum candidates must demonstrate:
1) A current and valid Cayman Islands driver’s license,
2) Ability to communicate effectively in both the Spanish and English language,
3) Mechanical inclined to perform minor repairs and welding work,
4) Having basic knowledge of pneumatically transported material systems,
5) Ability to operate forklifts and skid loaders.
The hourly wage for this position ranges from 13.00 KYD/hour to 15.00 KYD/hour, plus pension and health benefits and two weeks paid vacation. Ship discharges are excluded from overtime and paid on a piecework basis instead at a at rate of 750 KYD/ship to 1,000 KYD/ship.
