Position Overview: We are seeking a well experienced and highly responsible carpenter which will provide and contribute to the overall efficiency and success of our growing construction and interior fit-out projects.
Salary Range: KYD $12.00 – KYD $15.00/hour (commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Working Hours: Monday – Saturday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare, organize, and maintain tools, materials, and equipment required for daily construction activities.
• Perform a variety of physical construction tasks, including lifting and transporting materials, site preparation, and assisting with scaffolding and formwork setup.
• Construct, install, and repair wooden structures, framing systems, concrete formwork, and related components in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
• Accurately measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials using hand and power tools to ensure precise workmanship.
• Install doors, windows, cabinetry, trim, and other interior and exterior carpentry components to a high-quality finish.
• Safely operate power tools and construction equipment while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
• Ensure work complies with project requirements, local building codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site, including proper storage and care of tools and materials.
• Consistently follow all health and safety procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, supervisors, and other trades to meet project timelines.
• Perform additional carpentry or construction-related duties as assigned.
• Use various power tools to securely build assigned projects.
• Preparing walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding and removing old paint.
• Fill cracks and holes with appropriate materials (e.g. plaster).
• Apply various finishes to buildings, rooms or other structures, including primers or sealers.
• Mixed colors or oils to obtain desired color or consistency.
• Estimating time and material costs on painting and carpentry projects.
• Cleaning up painting and carpentry tools and supplies, replacing fixtures and rearranging furniture after completing the project.
Requirements:
• A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in the construction industry.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members, supervisors, and stakeholders.
• Excellent physical fitness, including strength, stamina, and superior hand-eye coordination to perform demanding manual tasks safely and efficiently.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings, coupled with the ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions.
• Demonstrated design capabilities, including creative problem-solving and practical application of design principles in construction contexts.
• Comprehensive knowledge of building materials, construction methods, techniques, and industry standards.
• Meticulous attention to detail, with a commitment to precision, quality control, and thorough execution of tasks.
• Demonstrated knowledge of color theory, surface design principles, and creative problem-solving to select appropriate finishes, textures, and decorative effects that align with project aesthetic and functional requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of painting materials (e.g., primers, sealers, enamels, epoxies, and specialty coatings), surface preparation techniques, application methods, and relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Meticulous attention to detail, with a strong commitment to quality assurance, defect identification, and achieving superior finish standards in every task.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exhibiting self-discipline, initiative, time management, and reliable judgment in prioritizing and completing assignments.
• Familiarity with safe operation and maintenance of painting tools and equipment, including brushes, rollers, spray systems (e.g., airless and HVLP), and scaffolding.
• Understanding of occupational health and safety protocols specific to painting, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard identification, and fume mitigation.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation, initiative, and sound judgment.
• Possession of a valid Cayman Islands driver's license and reliable personal transportation (highly desirable).
• Current legal authorization to work in the Cayman Islands
