Island Waste Carriers Ltd (IWC) is now accepting applications from qualified Caymanians/Resident Holder applicants only for a full-time Welder Fabricator/Maintenance Operative position. This person will report to the Shop Supervisor, Operations Coordinator & General Manager Determines vehicle/equipment condition by conducting inspections, identifying worn and damaged parts and carrying out repairs on company vehicles and equipment.

• Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing winterization procedures.
• Fabricate and perform structural welding to trucks, containers, and heavy equipment.
• Set and maintain proper welding temperatures, wire feeds, and gas settings to produce quality welds.
• Preparing and Painting Metal surfaces.
• MIG TIG ARK weld on Steel and Aluminum
• Complete reports, work orders, order parts and perform other administrative duties as required daily.
• Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all safety regulations.
• Use of necessary tools to perform tasks related to the maintenance of welding equipment.
• Maintains vehicle and container appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting when required.
• Maintains vehicle/equipment records by annotating services and repairs in fleet system.
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications.
• Enhances the reputation of the maintenance department and organization by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Maintaining a clean working area daily.
• All cleaning functions, washing trucks, compactors, yard clean up and mobile compactor washing as scheduled

Qualifications:
• Certificates supporting the role.
• (Five) 5-year experience in welding and fabrication occupation
• Must be computer literate, can be trained in software systems, and be willing to learn.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must pass a physical, including drug screening.
• Teamwork to work in all areas required in mechanics and repairs.
• Follow rules, regulations and guidelines of the company.

Physical/Mental Demands:
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, hear, climb, balance, and smell.
• Continuous concentrated mental and visual attention required.
• Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Frequent physical effort, including handling tools and equipment required.
• Frequently lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds.
Salary range CI$10 – CI$13 per hour, commensurate with experience working 45 hours per week. Working hours from Monday to Saturday 8am-5pm. Benefits as required by Cayman Islands Labor Law.
