Job Summary – The Procurement Manager – Level 1 is responsible for leading and executing procurement strategies that drive sales, profitability, service levels, and inventory optimization across assigned departments. This senior role provides strategic oversight of sourcing, supplier negotiations, financial performance, and team leadership. The position works closely with Category Management, Sales, Marketing, Logistics, Finance, and Store Operations to ensure strong operational execution, competitive positioning, and alignment with overall business objectives.
Job Duties
• Develop and execute procurement strategies to achieve gross profit, inventory turn, and service level targets.
• Lead supplier negotiations to improve pricing, terms, distribution, and market competitiveness.
• Oversee purchasing performance and ensure compliance with departmental budgets and KPIs.
• Identify and evaluate new suppliers, sourcing opportunities, and distribution channels.
• Monitor market trends, cost fluctuations, and competitive activity to mitigate risk and drive growth.
• Establish and monitor departmental goals and performance metrics.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to Procurement Managers and Purchasing Associates.
• Oversee inventory management, quarterly inventory reviews, and audit results.
• Partner cross-functionally to align assortment, allocation, and promotional strategies.
• Develop and maintain procurement standard operating procedures.
• Ensure compliance with company health, safety, sanitation, and asset protection standards.
• Prepare and present procurement performance reports to Executive Leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
• 5–10 years of progressive procurement experience within grocery/retail environments with a focus on Perishable Departments (or grocery related categories)
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing procurement teams.
• Demonstrated success in supplier negotiations and cost management.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and deliver against gross profit and service level targets.
• Bachelor’s degree, post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain, or related field with equivalent experience.

Annual Salary Range: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00
This is a full-time position with a working week of 50 hours, any overtime and holiday hours paid in lieu of time worked
