Role Overview
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Actuarial will lead the actuarial function within Hildene Re. The Head of Actuarial will oversee product development, pricing, reinsurance structuring, capital modeling, and actuarial reporting, while providing technical leadership and guidance across the actuarial team.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage reinsurance structuring and pricing, and advise stakeholders on actuarial, capital, risk and pricing matters.
• Provide actuarial input for strategic business decisions, new transactions and growth opportunities.
• Oversee the pension risk transfer underwriting, pricing for annuity products and governance.
• Contribute to business development initiatives by evaluating new opportunities and transactions.
• Oversee development of actuarial assumptions and pricing frameworks.
• Recommend capital-efficient solutions supporting Company growth.
• Manage CIA product modelling/assumption development.
• Oversee the capital modelling, optimisation, and forecasting, including regulatory and rating agency requirements.
• Analyse and oversee the fair value balance sheet modeling and asset-liability management (ALM) analysis.
• Review and approve reserve valuation, projection, reconciliation and monthly, quarterly and annual actuarial reporting communicating key metrics to stakeholders.
• Oversee development of actuarial assumptions and pricing frameworks.
• Develop tools and utilities for efficient input, output, and analysis workflows.
• Contribute to regulatory filings as required.
Qualifications & Experience
• Must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, or related field.
• Must possess a FSA or equivalent actuarial designation.
• Minimum 5-8 years of actuarial experience within life insurance, annuities, reinsurance, pension risk transfer, or related financial services sectors, including pricing, ALM and capital modelling and projections
• Knowledgeable in US GAAP, US statutory reporting, economic valuation or fair value balance sheet frameworks.
• Experience with capital management and structured reinsurance transactions.
• Proficient in actuarial software including Moody’s GGY Axis and advanced skills in Excel (VBA), SQL, Python, or R.
• Must be analytical, detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving, communication and presentation skills.
A competitive salary in the range of US$180,000 to US$210,000 per annum. Benefits include health insurance, pension, and a discretionary bonus. Interested applicants should apply via the WORC Jobs Portal.
