Gardener/Landscape Maintenance
We are seeking qualified and experienced individuals to fill the position of Gardener/Landscape Maintenance in our gardening and landscaping company.
• At least 3 years’ experience in tropical landscape care
• High school graduate with strong numeracy and literacy skills
• Valid Group 2 Drivers’ Licence coupled with experience in towing trailers and driving both
automatic & manual transmission vehicles (experienced persons with a Group 3 Licence will be given preference)
• Must be willing to work in the outdoor exposure, without problems, in varying weather conditions, among and with
different types of plants and with some amount of garden chemicals.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; strong command of the
English Language
• Must be able to work as part of a team and be proficient in handling gardening and power tools
• Must be willing to work weekends and some overtime (when necessary)
• Must be able to lift up to 70lbs repeatedly without any problems
• Ability to identify plants and plant pests
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
• Planting & Propagation: Plant flowers, shrubs, trees, and seeds, and manage soil health with compost and fertilizers.
• General Maintenance: Mow lawns, edge borders, weed flower beds, and prune trees or hedges.
• Pest & Disease Control: Monitor plant health and safely apply chemical or organic treatments (such as insecticides or herbicides).
• Equipment Operation: Use and perform routine maintenance on tools like lawn mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, and chainsaws.
• Site Care : Assist with light hard landscaping, path upkeep, fence repairs, or clearing debris.
• Health & Safety: Follow strict workplace safety guidelines, wear appropriate protective equipment, and manage chemical or machinery
The successful candidate will be required to undergo practical demonstrations in various areas.
Wages range from CI$8.75 - $12.00 per hour and will be commensurate with qualifications
& experience.
