Job Overview: The Commercial Electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems in commercial buildings across the Cayman Islands. This role ensures safe, code-compliant electrical infrastructure for businesses, resorts, and offices while supporting project timelines and delivering high-quality workmanship that upholds Britthay Electric Ltd's reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and execute installation of systems, including power distribution, lighting fixtures, fire alarms, emergency generators, and low-voltage controls in commercial settings.
• Complete time and material worksheets on phone or computer every day for accurate tracking and billing.
• Share knowledge, lead and instruct coworkers in daily tasks, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to determine wiring layouts and equipment placement.
• Install, bend, and connect conduits, wiring, panels, switches, and outlets according to local codes and specifications.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in existing commercial systems, minimizing downtime for clients.
• Perform routine maintenance and testing of electrical components for reliability and compliance.
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to meet deadlines and resolve on-site issues.
• Inspect completed work for quality, safety, and conformance to National Electrical Code (NEC) standards adapted for Cayman Islands regulations.
• Maintain inventory of tools, materials, and supplies, reporting needs to supervisors.
• Ensure proper grounding, bonding, and overcurrent protection in all installations.
• Assist in commissioning new systems and providing client handover training when required.
• Document as-built drawings and modifications for future reference.
• Adhere to energy efficiency practices in lighting and power systems.
• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment.
Qualifications:
• Education: Minimum is high school diploma but preferred associate 2 year degree or trade school in electrical technology or related field.
• Experience: At least 6+ years of hands-on experience in commercial electrical installations and maintenance.
• Certifications/Licenses: Valid journeyman electrician license or equivalent; valid driver's license required for Cayman Islands.
• Other Requirements: Clean police records and valid work permit for the Cayman Islands (if applicable).
• Testing Requirements: Candidates may be assessed using Cognitive Ability Tests, Numerical Reasoning Tests, Technical Aptitude Tests, and Personality Tests.
