Employment Type: Full-Time — standard 45-hour work week; rostered shifts including evening and on-call duty rotation

HOURS OF WORK / BREAKS & DUTY REQUIREMENTS
Standard work week: 45 hours, worked in accordance with the monthly duty roster.
● The monthly duty roster may be amended where operational requirements, staffing shortages, emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances arise. Reasonable notice of roster changes is provided whenever practicable, and the incumbent is expected to cooperate with reasonable roster adjustments necessary to maintain continuity of transport operations.
● The driver assigned to the evening shift (2:00 PM–10:00 PM or 2:00 PM–11:00 PM) is also responsible for on-call duty from 11:00 PM until 5:00 AM, unless formally reassigned by Management. While on call, the incumbent must: collect the designated on-call phone before leaving the hospital; keep the phone accessible and monitored throughout the on-call period; respond promptly to transportation requests; and report for duty to complete the required transportation assignment when a call-out is received.
● Approved work performed during the on-call period is recorded and compensated in accordance with hospital policy.
● Acts as Floater/Relief Driver when assigned, providing coverage for any rostered driver who calls in sick or is otherwise absent, assuming that driver’s shift and transportation duties as directed by Management.

JOB SUMMARY

The incumbent in this position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating Health City Cayman Islands vehicles to transport associates and supplies between the East End and Camana Bay locations, Vendor Locations and as otherwise directed by the Manager – Support Services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Transportation Duties
● Transports associates in a safe, timely, and courteous manner.
● Completes delivery and pickup of supplies and shipments within the specified time frame.
● Fulfils assigned weekly shifts under the monthly duty roster (12/9 schedule) and participates in the weekly on-call roster, responding to 24/7 emergency transportation and delivery needs when required.
Roster & On-Call Duty
● Cooperates with reasonable roster adjustments required to maintain continuity of transport operations.
● When assigned to the evening shift, undertakes on-call duty from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM as set out in
§1.1, unless formally reassigned by Management.
● Acts as Floater/Relief Driver when assigned, covering the shift and transportation duties of any rostered driver who is absent, as directed by Management.
Vehicle Care & Records
● Inspects vehicle condition before and after use, reports discrepancies, and maintains vehicles in a clean condition at all times.
● When rostered to work on Sunday, cleans the company vehicle(s) used during the shift, leaving them clean, presentable, and ready for the next scheduled use.
● Records every assigned pick-up and drop-off in the designated Transport WhatsApp group immediately upon completion, entering trip information accurately and completely to maintain proper transportation records, accountability, and operational traceability.
● Ensures trip information is recorded safely and does not use a mobile device while actively driving.
Communication & Compliance
● Maintains communication with the management team, including providing updates and information necessary for efficient operations.
● Notifies the Transport Supervisor or Manager at least four (4) hours before the start of a scheduled shift when unable to report for duty, wherever reasonably practicable; in cases of sudden illness, emergency, or where four hours’ notice is not possible, notifies the Transport Supervisor or Manager as soon as able.
● Responds promptly to work-related messages and assignments during scheduled working hours or designated on-call periods.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Valid Cayman Islands Group 4 License with no major moving violations or accidents within the past three years.
● 5+ years of driving experience, including experience driving coaster buses and minivans (manual and automatic), preferred.
● Good spoken and written English communication skills. Spanish language is advantageous/desirable but not essential.
● Experience with transportation dispatch procedures is desirable but not essential.
● The remaining proprietary knowledge necessary for this position is typically acquired during the six-month probationary period.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Complies fully with the requirements of the Transport Team roster and operational requirements, including participation in the Floater/Relief coverage arrangement, as amended from time to time by Management.
● Failure to meet the expectations set out in this job description and applicable transport operational requirements, without a valid or reasonable explanation, may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the hospital’s established policies and procedures; repeated or serious non-compliance will be addressed through the appropriate progressive disciplinary process.
● Other duties as reasonably assigned by Management.
